The Internet Audio Advertising Controversy
Many people poo poo on the idea of internet audio ads. I would like to bring up a few points to counter their observations. The purpose of this article is to reconsider the reasons people say they don't like the idea. Not many people like advertising, but take a look at the sites of those that discount internet audio ads and I'll bet you find it littered with text ads and banners. The main thrust of my counter point is that audio ads do not take up space. Next time you visit the sites you attend on a regular basis, try imagining that same page without all the text and banner advertising. On of my pet peaves is going to a site that offers quality content on a subject you enjoy and having to hunt for items you might want to read. Even worse is clicking on something that looks interesting then finding out it belongs to some strange site you've never seen or intended to go to. Internet audio ads are completely different in this regard. Not only do they they leave more room on the page for the content you're interested in, but after they play, they are gone. In many areas, much to do has been made about billboard advertising cluttering up an otherwise beautiful landscape. Imagine the difference it would make if this type of advertising could be replaced with audio ads. That may sound stupid, but did you picture it in your head? Now picture tuning the volume down, which to the chagrin of advertisers using them, remains an option. You have no such option with pay per click and banner advertising unless you install additional software that often makes the pages you view look barren. Is it adding up inside you're head? Everybody would to have like a more uncluttered experience on the web. Internet audio ads can help to achieve this goal. The way things stand right now, in reality, on most sites you have only a small area of which you know to look for the things you want to read. For example, lets revisit the billboard scenario mentioned above. Lets un-clutter the countryside and replace those billboards with stickers on the inside of your windshield. Ridiculous you say? Consider that you are now trying to navigate through the same small area to get to where you want to be. If they were audio ads, not only would you be able to navigate in a more unfettered way, but you now have ability to use one of your previously ignored senses to deal with the information in a way that doesn't slow you down or deceive you. Lastly, like it or not, this is going to happen. As technology evolves, you have to know the powers that be will take advantage of every resource at their disposal. Maybe the use of internet audio ads will not displace the use of pay per click and banner advertising, but at least the program being implemented by Pay Per Play and NetAudioAds gives common people a shot to get into a market traditionally held by those powers that be. Kick and scream, or free up your pages and make some money doing it. The choice is yours. http://www.internetaudioads.net/the-internet-audio-advertising-controversy.html
