Visionary Simplifies Rural Business Internet
Casper, WY (PRWEB) April 4, 2008 -- Visionary Communications announces the recent release of Private DSL in six Wyoming communities. Private DSL allows businesses in the same town to communicate with each other without need for a Virtual Private Network.
Private DSL between two offices avoids the need for Virtual Private Network (VPN). Visionary's solution uses synchronous DSL and bonded synchronous DSL, technologies that outperform T1s which have typically been used for private solutions in the same community. While a T1 offers a synchronous 1.5Mbps, synchronous DSL starts at 2.3Mbps and performs up to 40Mbps.
Businesses with multiple offices in the same community can use Visionary's Private DSL to connect the two offices and act as though an Ethernet cable has been strung between the two locations. The remote office operates on the network as though across the hall - sharing files, printing and performing other functions of a local area network.
"This is a simple solution to a growing need," states Preston Schilling, Visionary's Outside Plant Manager. "Rather than hire an IT staff to build a connection, a business can merely use Private DSL to connect between their locations and throw away their VPN equipment."
Schilling goes on to say that the other benefit to Private DSL is the ability to control all traffic to the Internet at a single point, the company headquarters. Remote offices on Private DSL must exit the corporate network at the headquarter firewall, allowing the business to exert more control over the surfing habits of their employees. This benefit provides the company with a single point to monitor, maintain and troubleshoot.
The drawback to Private DSL is its limitation to the community where it is installed. However, Visionary has other data circuits in its quiver for connectivity between communities and other states. The company has years of experience with ATM and Frame Relay, and has recently introduced a Private T1 solution available most anywhere.
Visionary Communications is Wyoming's pioneering broadband provider, offering DSL in 18 Wyoming communities, and wireless broadband in 11 Wyoming communities. The company provides Internet services in more than 90 towns and cities, and operates its own DSL and fixed-wireless plants throughout Wyoming and Montana. The company is headquartered in Gillette, Wyoming.
