Its Time To Kill The Cable TV Dinosaur
In the US cable TV based solutions are quite popular. They are also popular in some other countries, but in recent times, people are beginning to switch to satellite TV. Still others are switching to satellite TV on their PCs. Tech-savvy users feel that its far more convenient to be able to watch TV on your PC. With technology now facing a big convergence and most electronic devices being combined, they feel that this is the way to go. Lets look at some of the differences in cable TV and internet based satellite TV. The one disadvantage of cable TV, which is very much apparent in its name alone, is the cable. You are essentially bound by the cable. You have no mobility. Sometimes even in your own house. If you fix your cable TV in one room, you might sometimes be unable to shift to another room without paying someone to shift it. Cable TV also requires the use of a set top box. This box is what is used to control the channels and other aspects of your cable TV. Again, you are restricted by the set top box. You can not move it from room to room because of the location of the signal outlet. Enter satellite TV on your PC. A PC, a simple client program and an internet connection is all that is required. Two of them, you most likely already have. The simple software client is something you may need to buy. Again, not expensive and a one time fee. No recurring subscription. This is all you need to watch the same satellite based TV channels on your PC. No set top box, no problem with moving your PC from one room to the next. If you have a wireless network at home and have a laptop, you can practically watch TV anywhere in your house. Why stop there, lets take it a step further. Suppose you have to go out of town to another city or country for work. You can take your laptop with you and as long as you can get access to an internet connection, you?re able to watch your favorite satellite TV channels. This mobility and freedom is very appealing to people. Especially these days when a lot more work related travel is required. The verdict; its plain and simple. Watching satellite TV on your PC is the clear winner. Cable TV is on the way out. No one likes to be restricted by its ancient ways. Sorry, but its time to kill the cable TV dinosaur.
